Reliance Foundation initiates Free Mask Distribution in West Bengal

Kolkata 31 March 2021: As the world braces to witness the new normal, wearing a mask is emerging as a global priority. The importance of wearing a mask and its imperative need is now a well-established discourse but sometimes due to lack of resources and support, access to masks becomes a challenge for the needy. This becomes more critical and important with the sudden rise in COVID19 cases in the last one month and mainly for the rural people who go out for their livelihood.

The increasing spread of the unprecedented outbreak of COVID-19 has made masks and other hygiene products more important than ever. Keeping this in mind, in a responsible step forward, Reliance Foundation has taken the initiative to address the issues of accessibility and availability of Masks by providing Free Mask Distribution in the state.

The areas and beneficiaries where the mask distribution is being initiated are: Station Area, Rickshaw Stand, Auto Stand, Bus Stand, Beggars, Fish & Vegetable Market, Grocery Stores, Labourers, Needy people in remote areas, Needy people on road without mask, Street Vendors, etc. Several locations across Kolkata where mask distribution is being organized are: Dunlop, Sonarpur, Garia, Madhyamgram, Barasat, Belur, Hindmotor, Rishra, Shrirampur, Barrackpore, Behala, along with other parts of the state.

Moving forward on its mission to create awareness about the importance of wearing masks and supporting the fight against this pandemic, the initiative by Reliance Foundation has been taken in several parts of West Bengal and the Free Mask Distribution continues in other remaining parts of the State too.

One of the beneficiaries, who was using a torn mask, said that it was difficult for him to buy masks again for himself and his family but now he and his family can wear new masks during this second wave of COVID19.

Several Rickshaw pullers, Labourers, and Street Vendors were very happy after they received the masks.
