Kolkata: SBI Life Insurance, one of the most trusted private life insurers in India, extended financial support to Dakshineswar Ramakrishna Sangha Adyapeath – a charitable institution for destitute individuals, operating across West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Uttarakhand. Through this collaboration, SBI Life and the charitable institution launched a mobile medical van service to make basic medical facilities freely available at the doorsteps of the economically weaker sections of the society in the states, especially belonging to the rural, vulnerable and under-served areas which lack healthcare facilities.



Mr. Mahesh Kumar Sharma, MD & CEO, SBI Life Insurance along with Mr. Ravindra Kumar, President, Zone-III, SBI Life handed over the mobile medical van keys to Brahmachari Mural Bhai, General Secretary cum Trustee and Brahmachari Vivek Bhai, Asst. Secretary & Medical In-charge, Dakshineshwar Ramakrishna Sangha Adhyapeath in presence of Mr. Ashwani Kumar Shukla, Regional Director- Bengal Region, SBI Life and other respected dignitaries.




The initiative has been undertaken as part of SBI Life’s Corporate Social Responsibility program and is projected to impact more than 50,000 needy people within this year. The mobile medical van is well-equipped with facilities like oxygen cylinder, ECG machine, portable digital X-Ray machine, blood sugar testing kit, physiotherapy unit and nebulizer. While the charitable institution has already covered vast areas in West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand, with the launch of this mobile medical van the NGO will now be able to cover these areas in a much-detailed manner and provide the required timely medial support to the needy.



Speaking on the association, Mr. Mahesh Kumar Sharma, MD & CEO, SBI Life Insurance said, “While medical science has advanced by leaps and bounds in the recent past, lack of basic medical amenities in the rural areas still remains a grave concern. Furthermore, the rising medical cost adds to the issue of affordability of required medical facilities, especially for the underprivileged, as the expense of medicines and treatments are beyond their reach. At SBI Life, it is our constant endeavor to enhance the lives of the communities we serve and uplift the needy and underprivileged sections of our society, hence we’ve collaborated with Dakshineswar Ramakrishna Sangha Adyapeath to help the needy with primary medical facilities free of cost and at their doorsteps.”



He further added, “Through this contribution, we hope to provide better health care facilities to the residents of these regions.
