Tata Sons has won the ultimate bid for acquiring national carrier Air Indiaconsistent with government sources. The salt-to-software conglomerate had submitted the ultimate bid for the airline on September 15 and emerged because the frontrunner to accumulate the airline.


While SpiceJet promoter Ajay Singh had also submitted a bid for the airline, government sources have confirmed that Tata Sons submitted a better offer for acquiring the airline.

The development comes each day after a report indicated that the govt finalised the minimum reserve price for the airline. the govt had finalised the minimum reserve price for the national carrier, supported future income projection, brand value and slots in foreign airports.

Sources indicated that the bid submitted by Tata Sons was Rs 3,000 crore quite the minimum reserve price set by the govt committee.

Many reports had earlier indicated that Tata Sons emerged because the frontrunner to accumulate Air India because it submitted a better bid for the debt-laden airline.
