19th April, New Delhi: The Research and Innovation Initiative Gathering (RIIG) on 'Eco-Innovation for Energy Transition' was organized under the G20 Presidency of India in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. During the meeting discussions were held on developing environment friendly energy conservation systems. The two-day conference was attended by representatives of G20 member states, international organizations and invited experts from the scientific community. A total of four sessions were held on the first day. The conference was held at Hotel Radisson Blu.



The meeting was presided over by Srivari Chandrasekhar, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology of the Centre. On this occasion, DP Srivastava, representative of Vivekananda International Foundation, gave his speech on energy transition in India. This was followed by a statement on the G20 Education Working Group by Professor Raghunathan Rangaswamy, Dean of International Relations, IIT Madras.



Areas focused during the conference include challenges and opportunities in research and innovation collaboration between member countries on topics such as smart energy transition, storage and management. About 60 foreign delegates got an opportunity to know about the symbols associated with the identity of Himachal Pradesh from this meeting which is being held in Dharamshala.



Earlier, for the summit to be held in Dharamshala on April 19 and 20, all the delegates reached Kangre airport on Monday where they were warmly received as per Himachali tradition. During this, folk artists enthralled the guests with cultural presentations of Himachali folk culture at the airport.



On the next day of the program i.e. on April 20, courtesy of the Department of AYUSH, a yoga session will be organized for the guests at the venue in the morning. In this session of about a quarter of an hour, the trainers of the AYUSH department will make the delegates practice yoga. After participating in the yoga session on 20th April, the delegates will be on a tour of Dharamshala and nearby places. Apart from knowing the processing of tea at Maan Tea Factory, they will also taste different flavours of tea. After that they will visit Kangra Art Museum. Earlier the RIIG Conference on Sustainable Energy and Circular Bioeconomy was held in Ranchi and Dibrugarh.
