Pankaj Kumar Roy Represents West Bengal in National Youth Commission
Malda, West Bengal: Pankaj Kumar Roy, a student of Malda College, recently earned the honour of representing his state West Bengal in the National Youth Commission’s Drafting Committee held in Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, the same venue where the G20 summit was hosted earlier this year. The event, held from August 23 to 25, brought together young leaders from across the country to deliberate on issues like youth empowerment, employment opportunities, and strategies for youth empowerment national development.
The event spanned three days and included interactive panel discussions, breakout sessions, and a youth parliament simulation where delegates debated key national issues like digital literacy, unemployment, and sustainable development. The drafting committee, which included Pankaj Kumar Roy, played a crucial role in framing recommendations on youth engagement in governance, addressing mental health, and enhancing skill development initiatives. Workshops on leadership, entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability further enriched the participants’ understanding and equipped them with practical tools for creating positive change.
Pankaj’s invitation to this significant platform is a testament to his consistent leadership, active participation in National Service Scheme (NSS) activities, and his exemplary work in community service. His initiatives have included organising educational drives, leading environmental conservation campaigns, and participating in various social awareness programs in Malda and surrounding areas.
Principal of Malda College, Dr. Manas Kumar Baidya, expressed his pride in Pankaj’s achievements, stating, “Pankaj has always been a student who blends academic brilliance with a genuine concern for society. His participation at such a national platform is not just a recognition of his hard work but also an inspiration for all our students.”
NSS Programme Officer, Shri Mithun Ray, who has closely observed Pankaj’s growth, mentioned, “Pankaj’s commitment and involvement in community service have set a benchmark for students in our region. His leadership qualities are evident in every task he undertakes, and his dedication is unmatched.”
During the event at Bharat Mandapam, Pankaj played an instrumental role in the drafting process, focusing on the importance of youth participation in the nation’s progress and discusing the problems of his state.
Notably, this is not the first time Pankaj has represented his state. A few months ago, he represented West Bengal in the National Youth Parliament Festival, earning widespread recognition. He has also won several awards for his college and district in various competitions, marking him as a promising figure from Malda.
Pankaj’s journey from a small district to such a grand stage symbolises the power of dedication and hard work. His achievements continue to inspire not just his peers but the entire youth community, showing what is possible when talent meets opportunity.
