Weather Alert Across India: Torrential Rains from Plains to Hills, IMD Issues Warning Till August 2
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nationwide alert as monsoon activity intensifies across the country. From the northern plains to the Himalayan foothills, heavy rainfall is causing widespread disruption. Citizens are strongly advised to remain indoors and exercise caution until August 2, as the risk of flooding, lightning, and landslides remains high in several regions.
In the national capital, Delhi, the IMD has predicted heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning on Monday, 28 July 2025. The temperature is expected to range between 27 to 35 degrees Celsius, and the air quality remains in the moderate category. Areas such as Pitampura, Badli, Mundka, Paschim Vihar, Laxmi Nagar, Punjabi Bagh, Mother Dairy, Rohini, and Narela may experience light to moderate showers. Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel, as waterlogging and traffic disruptions are likely.
Uttar Pradesh is also under a heavy rain alert, with districts including Muzaffarnagar, Hapur, Rampur, Saharanpur, Bijnor, Meerut, Sitapur, Kheri, Jhansi, Jalaun, Bulandshahar, Sambhal, Bareilly, Hamirpur, Siddharshnagar, Mahamayanagar, Kannauj, Hardoi, Kanpur Dehat, Jyotiba Phule Nagar, and Pilibhit expected to receive intense rainfall. The situation may lead to flooding in low-lying areas, and residents are urged to stay indoors and follow safety advisories.
In Bihar, the IMD has issued warnings for heavy rain and lightning in districts such as West Champaran, Muzaffarpur, Siwan, Saran, Begusarai, Madhepura, Jehanabad, Lakhisarai, Munger, Patna, Sitamarhi, Darbhanga, Samastipur, and Nalanda. The weather conditions may cause flash floods and power outages, and emergency services are on alert to respond to any crisis.
The mountain states are also facing severe weather conditions. In Uttarakhand, an orange alert has been issued for Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh, and Bageshwar in the Kumaon region, while a yellow alert is in place for Tehri, Pauri, and Dehradun in the Garhwal region. Himachal Pradesh is bracing for heavy rain in Kangra, Shimla, Kinnaur, Kullu, Hamirpur, Mandi, and Sirmaur. These areas are at risk of landslides, flash floods, and road blockages, and both tourists and locals are advised to avoid travel in vulnerable zones.
As monsoon rains continue to lash various parts of the country, the IMD’s warning serves as a crucial reminder to stay alert and prepared. With nature’s fury unfolding across cities and hills alike, it is essential to prioritize safety, follow official updates, and avoid unnecessary exposure to hazardous conditions.
