Cooch Behar Dinhata Rail Passengers Forum Submits 8-Point Demand to DRM
Dinhata: The Cooch Behar Dinhata Rail Passengers Forum today submitted an 8-point memorandum to the Alipurduar Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) through the Station Master at Dinhata Railway Station. The memorandum outlines several long-standing demands aimed at improving rail services and infrastructure for passengers in the Dinhata area.
The key demands presented by the Passengers Forum include:
Re-introduction of Local Trains: A demand to re-start local train services via the main line and specifically to re-introduce the local train originating from Dinhata.
Punctuality of DEMU: Ensuring the currently running DEMU local train runs on time and exclusively with the correct DEMU rake.
Intercity as Local Train: Converting the Siliguri Bamanhat Intercity Express into an All-Stop Local Train to benefit passengers on intermediate stations.
Platform Extension: Demands for the lengthening of the platforms at both Bamanhat Station and Cooch Behar Station.
Road Overbridge/Underpass: Construction of a Rail Overbridge or Underpass on the Dinhata Sahebganj Road to ease traffic congestion.
Foot Overbridge: Construction of a Foot Overbridge on the north side of Dinhata Station for passenger convenience.
Improved Passenger Amenities: Provision of sufficient seating for passengers, construction of a toilet on Platform No. 2, and the installation of an ATVM machine (Automatic Ticket Vending Machine) at Dinhata Station.
Schedule Change: A demand to slightly delay the departure time (by approximately 25 minutes) of the local train that currently leaves Bamanhat at 3:15 PM.
Attendees present during the submission of the memorandum included the Convener Raja Ghosh, Joy Gopal Bhowmik, Chayan Sarkar, Sushanta Sutradhar, Ajit Jain, Shyamal Saha, Mosharraf Hossain, Jiban Debnath, Bishwarup Kor Chowdhury, Pranesh Saha, Shitangshu Sekhar Mustafi, Gopal Dutta, Mirajul Haque, and Nil Kumar Biswas, among others.
The Rail Passengers Forum hopes that the Alipurduar DRM will give serious consideration to these demands and take prompt action to resolve the issues faced by the commuters.
