DARE RUN 2025: DHEE Hospitals Leads Charge Against Arthritis, Mobilizing 5,000 in Bengaluru
Bengaluru | October 14, 2025 – In a powerful display of community health advocacy, DHEE Hospitals, Kanakapura Road, successfully organized the DARE RUN 2025 on the occasion of World Arthritis Day. The event drew an overwhelming participation of over 5,000 individuals from various sectors, uniting them to raise awareness about arthritis, emphasizing the critical role of prevention, early diagnosis, and active living.
The DARE RUN 2025 featured competitive 5K and 10K runs alongside a 5K fun walk/run, encouraging mobility among all age groups.
Event Details and Dignitaries
The run was flagged off by Bangalore South MP Shri Tejasvi Surya at Forum South Bangalore (Konanakunte Cross Metro Station) and culminated at the DHEE Hospitals Multi Specialty Care facility on Kanakapura Road.
The event saw the presence of several key dignitaries, including:
- Dr. Chandrasekar Chikkamuniyappa, CEO & Senior Joint Replacement Surgeon, DHEE Hospitals
- Rtn Sridhar B.R., Rotary District Governor 3191
- Dr. RMS Sudhakar, President, Rotary Bangalore Orchards
- Dr. Subodh Shetty, President, Bangalore Orthopaedic Society
Inspiring Stories of Triumph
The run served as a testament to courage and hope, witnessing the participation of individuals spanning an impressive age range—from a 9-year-old child to a 97-year-old arthritis warrior.
Two post-surgery patients from DHEE Hospitals provided particularly inspiring moments:
- Mr. H.S. Nagaraja (Davangere) defied expectations by completing a 5-kilometer walk just two weeks after undergoing knee replacement surgery. He traveled specifically for the event to share how he has successfully reclaimed his mobility.
- Mr. B.S. Srikanth Rao, 84, who struggled to walk before his surgery, now confidently walks 10 kilometers every day. His simple yet powerful message resonated with the crowd: “To stay healthy well into your eighties, you need to get up and walk every day.”
Focus on Awareness and Community Collaboration
Addressing the massive gathering, Dr. Chandrasekar Chikkamuniyappa, CEO of DHEE Hospitals, underscored the hospital’s commitment to proactive health:
"Arthritis has the power to limit mobility and profoundly alter lives... Awareness is our first line of defense. Remember just one hour of exercise every day can give you 23 hours of great health in a day. Let’s preserve the gift of movement and the quality of life it brings.”
Bangalore South MP Shri Tejasvi Surya lauded the organizing bodies for their comprehensive approach to community welfare:
“It’s inspiring to see a hospital like DHEE take healthcare beyond its walls into the community. DHEE Hospitals, along with NGOs Smitam and Rotary District 3191, have shown how collaboration between healthcare institutions and civic groups can drive social change. The DARE RUN is not just a race — it’s a movement that celebrates courage, compassion, and community health.”
The DARE RUN 2025 successfully exemplified the power of unity, bringing together doctors, patients, families, and civic groups to DARE to Run, DARE to Create Awareness, and DARE to Make a Difference. The initiative aligns with DHEE’s philosophy—derived from the Sanskrit word ‘DHEE’ signifying the confluence of Mind, Body, and Soul—to deliver patient-centric healthcare, notably through their advanced Robotic Joint Replacement Program.
