High-Level ECI Team Led by Deputy Election Commissioner Arrives to Review SIR Preparations
Kolkata: A high-level team from the Election Commission of India (ECI), led by Deputy Election Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti, has arrived in West Bengal to finalize and review the preparations for the upcoming Special Summary Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in the state. The team includes three other representatives.
It has been confirmed that the SIR process will definitely take place in the state, and final preparations are being intensified. To oversee this, the ECI team has begun a series of meetings and reviews with the state election officials.
The Commission's delegation has initiated a video conference with all districts of the state, excluding North Bengal, to thoroughly assess the preparatory work. During the video conference, detailed discussions are taking place with the District Magistrates and other election officials regarding every step of the SIR process.
The Special Summary Revision is a crucial exercise conducted to enroll new voters who will attain 18 years of age, delete the names of deceased or shifted voters, and carry out necessary corrections in the voter list. The presence of the Deputy Election Commissioner underscores the importance and urgency of the electoral preparations in the state.
