GIIS Students Strike the Right Chord with Music Maestro Shekhar Ravjiani

Hosted at GIIS Hadapsar and joined by GIIS Balewadi, the Leadership Lecture Series session inspired young musicians to embrace creativity, discipline, and expression.

Pune, November 19, 2025: Global Indian International School (GIIS), Hadapsar, hosted acclaimed Indian music composer and mentor Shekhar Ravjiani as part of the Global Schools Group (GSG) Leadership Lecture Series. The session also saw participation from GIIS Balewadi students, who joined the LLS series to gain insights from the celebrated artist on music, creativity, and leadership.

The Leadership Lecture Series (LLS) is Global Schools Group’s flagship platform designed to engage students with leaders and achievers who exemplify excellence across diverse fields. The programme aims to inspire creativity, curiosity, and ambition by linking classroom learning with real-world experiences. As part of the LLS session, Shekhar spoke about his journey as a musician, the role of discipline in nurturing creativity, and the importance of authenticity in performance. Students also participated in a practical workshop focusing on rhythm, voice control, and stage presentation, followed by a short Q&A and showcase by the participants.

Speaking about the session, Shekhar Ravjiani said, “Each time I visit a Global Schools Group campus, I’m reminded of the passion and curiosity young learners bring to the table. The students at GIIS Hadapsar were eager, talented, and open to learning qualities that form the foundation of any artistic pursuit. Through GSSRSOM, we aim to help them build both skill and confidence as they begin their musical journeys.”

Established in 2020, the Global Schools Sheykhar Ravjiani School of Music is a first-of-its-kind collaboration between India’s leading composer Shekhar Ravjiani and the Singapore-based Global Schools Foundation. The programme offers structured modules in music theory, vocal training and music production, supported through both virtual and in-person mentoring. Drawing from a pool of almost 35,000 students across Global Schools Group’s network, GSSRSOM has trained over 200 learners to date, providing opportunities to perform, create original work and engage with industry-level guidance using state-of-the-art infrastructure and technology. Now in its fifth year, the school has become a strong pillar of artistic mentorship, with two students already launched globally through Shekhar’s music label, Garudaa Music.

Also present at the session was Pavithra Chari, a distinguished classical and contemporary vocalist who serves as a sub-mentor at the Global Schools Shekhar Ravjiani School of Music. She contributed her expertise through focused inputs on vocal technique, interpretation and practice habits, enriching the workshop for participating students. Her steady involvement continues to support the programme’s aim of developing well-rounded young musicians.
