MET Institute of PGDM secures AIU MBA equivalence
MET Institute of PGDM Secures AIU MBA Equivalence

Mumbai, 16th July 2026: The MET Institute of PGDM, Mumbai, has reached a significant academic milestone. The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has officially granted MBA equivalence to the institute’s two-year full-time PGDM programme. This recognition places MET’s PGDM graduates on equal academic footing with MBA degree holders from Indian universities, significantly broadening their professional and academic prospects.

Enhanced Academic and Professional Mobility

This formal equivalence provides MET graduates with several critical advantages in an increasingly competitive landscape:

  • Doctoral Pursuits: Graduates are now formally eligible to apply for doctoral programmes both within India and at international universities.
  • Public Sector Opportunities: The recognition opens doors for roles in government organisations, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and various regulatory bodies that specifically require an MBA or an equivalent degree.
  • International Portability: The equivalence enhances the global acceptance of the PGDM qualification, as international universities frequently evaluate academic credentials based on their equivalence to standard MBA degrees.

A Blend of Industry Relevance and Academic Standing

Known for its industry-oriented pedagogy, MET offers dual specialisations and cutting-edge electives, including MarTech, FinTech, Business Analytics, Media & Entertainment, and Start-ups & New Enterprise Management. Pankaj Bhujbal, Trustee at MET, emphasised that this development ensures students can pursue diverse career paths—from corporate leadership and entrepreneurship to research and public policy—without facing limitations.

Commitment to Excellence

The MET Institute’s PGDM programme is already well-regarded, holding approvals from the AICTE and recognition from the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), alongside accreditation by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Supported by academic partnerships with KPMG, the curriculum integrates internships, live industry projects, and corporate interactions. With placement packages reaching as high as INR 20 LPA, the institute continues to balance high-level industry readiness with this new, robust academic accreditation.

By bridging the gap between industry-focused practical training and academic recognition, the AIU equivalence solidifies MET’s position as a premier destination for students seeking both professional success and long-term academic flexibility.
