Weather Warning for the Region During Next Five Days




Heavy rainfall occurred at one or two places over Bihar. Very light to moderate rainfall occurred at most places over Sikkim and at one or two places over Odisha & Bihar. Very light to light rainfall occurred at most places over Kalimpong & South Dinajpur districts, at many places over Coochbehar district, at a few places over Darjeeling, Malda & North Dinajpur districts and at one or two places over Jalpaiguri district of Sub Himalayan West Bengal. Light rainfall occurred at a few places over South 24 Parganas districts ; Very light to light rainfall occurred at a few places over West Midnapore district and at one or two places over Purulia districts ; Very light rainfall occurred at many places over East Midnapore district and at one or two places over Bankura & West Burdwan districts of Gangetic West Bengal. Very light to light rainfall occurred at a few places over Jharkhand. Very light rainfall occurred at a few places over Andaman Islands. Weather remained dry over the rest of the region. 

Yesterday’s maximum temperature rose appreciably at a few places in Jharkhand and at one or two places in Sub Himalayan West Bengal; rose appreciably at a few places and fell appreciably at one or two places in Gangetic West Bengal; rose appreciably at one or two places and fell appreciably at one or two places in Bihar . No large change occurred elsewhere in the region. 

Those were below normal to appreciably below normal at most places in Bihar & Jharkhand and at many places in Odisha; below normal to appreciably below normal at a few places and above normal at one or two places in Gangetic West Bengal; below normal at a few places in Sikkim & Sub Himalayan West Bengal and normal elsewhere in the region. Highest maximum temperature of 40.0°C was recorded at Malkangiri (Odisha) in the plains of the region. 

Yesterday's EastWest trough now runs from West Rajasthan to WestAssam at 0.9 km above mean sea level across North Rajasthan, Haryana, central Parts of Uttar Pradesh Pradesh, Bihar and Sub Himalayan West Bengal. 

Yesterday’s cyclonic circulation over Bihar & neighbourhood at 0.9 km above mean sea level has become less marked.Yesterday’s trough in westerlies roughly along longitude 87°E to the north of latitude 23°N between 1.5 & 2.1 km above mean sea level has become less marked.

• Tuesday 11 May (Day-1) 1) Heavy rain (7-11 cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Odisha, Sikkim and Jalpaiguri, North & South Dinjapur, Malda, Kalimpong, Nadia, North 24 Parganas, East Midnapore districts of West Bengal. 2) Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind (speed reaching 40-50 Kmph) likely to occur at one or two places over Odisha and Bihar. 3) Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40 Kmph) likely to occur at one or two places over Jharkhand and the districts of West Bengal. 4) Thunderstorm with lightning likely to occur at one or two places over Sikkim. 

Wednesday 12 May (Day-2) 1) Heavy rain (7-11 cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Coochbehar, North 24 Parganas, Nadia districts of West Bengal. 2) Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40 Kmph) likely to occur at one or two places over Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar and the districts of West Bengal. 3) Thunderstorm with lightning likely to occur at one or two places over Sikkim. 

Thursday 13 May (Day-3)1) Heavy rain (7-11 cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Odisha and North & South 24 Parganas, East & West Midnapore districts of Gangetic West Bengal. 2) Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40 Kmph) likely to occur at one or two places over Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar and the districts of Gangetic West Bengal. 3) Thunderstorm with lightning likely to occur at one or two places over Sikkim and the districts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal. 

Friday 14 May (Day-4) 1) Heavy rain (7-11 cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Sikkim. 2) Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40 Kmph) likely to occur at one or two places over Jharkhand. 3) Thunderstorm with lightning likely to occur at one or two places over Sikkim and the districts of West Bengal.
