Kolkata, Sangbad Ekalavya: After the high-voltage first phase of elections, the political temperature in Bengal is rising even further. To thank the people of Bengal for a record and peaceful voter turnout in the first phase, Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah held a special press conference in Kolkata on Friday (April 24, 2026). During this press conference, he clearly claimed that the common people of Bengal have voted for a change this time. Alongside, he emphasized that if the BJP forms the government in the state, ensuring women's security will be one of their top priorities.

Kudos to the Commission and Police for Peaceful Voting

At the very beginning of the press conference, Amit Shah thanked the Election Commission, the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), and the West Bengal Police for conducting the first phase of the elections peacefully. He said, "After many years, an election took place in the state where not a single casualty occurred. This is truly a remarkable thing. Such a secure environment was made possible only due to the excellent coordination between the security forces and the Election Commission."

Women's Security is the Top Priority

Using the issue of women's safety in the state as a prime focus, Amit Shah fiercely attacked the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC). He stated that women in Bengal are not safe under the current government. "If the BJP forms the government in the state, ensuring the safety of women will be our primary task. We must eliminate the fear and insecurity from the minds of the mothers and sisters of Bengal." According to him, the winds of change have started blowing in the state, and "fear is fading, trust is building."

Promise of a 'Son of the Soil' as Chief Minister

Dismissing the ruling party's 'outsider' narrative, Shah claimed that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is deliberately spreading rumors that outsiders will run the state if the BJP comes to power. Clarifying this, he said, "I want to tell Didi (Mamata Banerjee) that the next Chief Minister of Bengal will be born in this state, will be educated in the Bengali medium, and will be a true Bengali. He will not be the nephew of any leader, but rather an ordinary BJP worker."

The Roar of Change

Recalling the ideals of Rabindranath Tagore, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, and Khudiram Bose, Amit Shah claimed that the people of Bengal are now ready to join Modiji's journey of development. He confidently stated that out of the 152 seats, the BJP is already in a position to win more than 110 seats. With the slogan "Didi is going and BJP is coming," he hinted at forming a government with a clear majority in the state in the coming days.

Overall, this confident press conference by Amit Shah following the first phase of voting has undoubtedly created a fresh stir in state politics.
