India Post Payments Bank Launches Aadhaar-Based Face Authentication for Inclusive Digital Banking
New Delhi, August 2025 — In a landmark move toward inclusive and accessible digital banking, India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has unveiled an Aadhaar-based Face Authentication service. This innovative feature empowers elderly and differently-abled citizens by enabling secure, contactless banking without the need for fingerprints or OTPs.
A Game-Changer for Inclusive Finance
Developed within the framework of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the face authentication system uses AI-powered facial recognition to verify customer identity. It supports the Government of India’s Digital India initiative and strengthens IPPB’s mission to deliver banking services to every doorstep.
IPPB MD & CEO R. Viswesvaran stated:
“We are not just improving technology; we are enhancing dignity. With this face authentication facility, we ensure no citizen is excluded from essential banking services due to fingerprint issues or mobile OTP constraints.”
